Since this month is related to Valentine’s Day and we have a special focus on the heart I’d like to point out an interesting article that was sent to my inbox from a colleague, Heart Surgeon Declares on What Really Causes Heart Illness .
It is interesting to see the common denominator of inflammation at the root cause of our North American lifestyle-related diseases.
Dietary factors related to chronic inflammation are associated with dietary recommendations of a low fat, high carbohydrate diet resulting from the lipid hypothesis and the diet-heart hypothesis. Ancel Keys’ research has been increasingly scrutinized. For a comical view watch the Big Fat Lies and if you choose a little more research read Gary Taubes’ The Soft Science of Dietary Fat or watch his presentation for his book Why We Get Fat.
Food for thought.
